Electric Surface/Trace Heating (Heat
Tracing) is the application of a compensating heat source to a
pipe, surface or vessel, to maintain a specified temperature. A
low voltage transformer converts 230v to a safe low voltage to
power the trace heating wire. The wire creates a resistance,
which turns electrical energy into heat. This heat prevents
freezer doors from becoming frozen shut.

A high quality low
voltage transformer is available with full fuse
protection on input and output with warning light, and
variable tappings for different loading requirements. This
requires a 230v ac 50hz single phase supply. We are
currently on the MK3 transformer.
